The Web
The complex pattern of the web
deserves appreciation,
closer examination;
the asymmetrical symmetry
of chaotic harmony,
the trap, the cage,
with it's many threads
of desire, destiny, death,
and choices already made:
bars of flexible iron
enclosing for what's left of life.
The strength of the material
is remarkable,
created by one small spider.
She makes her erratic circles,
spinning out her work,
the industrious creation
in constant continuation
of apparently arbitrary patterns
with a purpose
that she herself
fails to recognize.
But the similarities in the webs
are more obvious
than the differences.
And an undefined need
keeps the spider spinning.
